About Senior Environment Corps Programs
The Senior Environment Corps (SEC) is a group of CIP members who have an interest in learning about and improving our environment.
We take a three-prong approach to the environment by monitoring the water, land, and air. We collect water samples from local creeks to test for chemical and biological water quality indicators. We take soil samples to look for dangerous levels of lead and have recently launched a new initiative to measure air quality in locations across Northwest Philadelphia. We use the data we collect to educate our community about pollution and responsible stewardship of our local natural resources.
You don’t need a science background or to be physically fit to join the SEC. We have a role for you. Let’s talk! You can contact the SEC Office at 215-848-7722 x218.
The SEC meets on the first Friday of the month at 1:00 p.m.
